Rabbits on the Move: Road Trip to our first Zine Fair!
We had a blast tabling at the Forbes Library Winter Exquisite: Zine and Diorama Fest in Northampton, MA this past weekend! Thank you to the @forbeszineclub for having us, and thank you to all those who stopped by to chat or support our storytelling - our hearts are full!
It was so great to hand out Ella Causerβs free zine with creativity advice. Many people bought zines by Spoon, SaraMarie, and some newer Rabbits: Stephanie Li, Jane Kim-Testa, Sinan Goknur, Bryce Mick, and Brond Larson. Lots of folks also picked up an info sheet about Spoon with instructions on how to send him letters. We really look forward to future zine fairs, there were so many wonderful artists there!
Author of the Month: Meredith M. Taylor
Weβre featuring New Village Press author Meridith M. Taylor and her book Making a Way Out of No Way, on the resistance of people living in slavery.
βMaking a Way Out of No Way is almost three dimensional β almost more a museum exhibit than a book. It gives us an almost tangible sense, through stunning photographs and carefully crafted scenes, of the love, hope, endurance, and pride of the enslaved people who lived and labored at Sotterly and other plantations like it in Southern Maryland." ~Elizabeth A. Packard , historian, author Ruthβs River Dreams
Community Help Requests
Wondering how you can help RoR and spread the word about the work we are doing? Here are some helpful suggestions:
Fold and distribute zines!
Yes, you can do it, too! Ask us for one of our zines youβd like to put out into the world. Weβll share with you how to print and fold them. They can be left anywhere- coffee shops, bookstores, train stations, doctorsβ offices, anything to help spread the RoR word! E-mail Mariah at swartz.mariah2001(at)gmail.com to get started.
Share, share, share!
We want to encourage everyone we can to live inspired lives in touch with their creativity. Thereβs a lot going on in the world right now that is difficult. Help us help all of us find a way through by sharing. Like, repost, put something weβve shared on your story, send it to someone you know, send it to other activists, anything you can do to help get the word out!
Interact with us!
Be a Rabbits of Realness advocate and interactive member. Send us your writing and artwork to be included in a collaborative zine, write a letter to Spoon, attend a workshop. (Boston-area RoR letter writing workshops coming soon)
Are you open to an interview about how you share your creativity to make the world better? We would love to chat. We host bi-weekly phone meetings and love special guests, join us sometime! E-mail Mariah at swartz.mariah2001(at)gmail.com to get involved.
Thank you
A big, forever giving, thank you to FREER Records for publishing Nicolas & Spoonβs album, No Moon. FREER Records is the first record label in the U.S. for prison impacted musicians. Their mission is to build the careers of their artists so their work is widely heard, uncensored and upholds their humanity.
There are a very limited number of No Moon cassette tapes available through FREER.
